Installation

We design the right system for you and your budget ….

Initially at least much of this process can be done remotely with using information from you along with satellite images from google earth and solar databases and we can provide you a pretty good idea on both your solar potential and PV system cost estimate. To maximize your Solar potential we design the best system for you.

Installation of your solar PV system can be accomplished in a variety of ways:

  • Full DIY – You buy the materials and construct the wood frame to attach the panels in a ground mount or assemble roof racks to hold panels in a roof mount. GabEnergy can provide engineering diagrams and advice.
Alternatively you can have the mounts built by local contractors.  Your local Sales Associate can help you to get in contact with the right people.
  • Once array is built you attach all solar panels to the supporting structure. Connect micro-inverters to the panels and run the electrical cable up to the main breaker box. An electrician then makes the final connections.
  • The electrician applies for the necessary permits, connects the array to the  to main breaker panel and arranges for inspection by RDN inspector. You apply to BC Hydro for net metering (see below).

NET METERING is the electricity you generate with your solar PV system is first used by the electrical demand in your house. Even with a modest solar PV system you will often generate more energy than you use during the summer months. This is where the BC Hydro net metering program is very useful. As a net metering customer, when you generate more electricity than you consume, you receive a credit to your account that is applied against your future consumption (usually in the non-summer months). At your anniversary date, if you have an excess generation credit remaining on your account, BC Hydro may make a one-time payout at the published rate of 9.99 ¢/kW.h. The application is very short and relatively simple.  Follow the instructions on the BC Hydro Net Metering webpage.
